How to Check an Influencer Marketing Agency

Questions about audiences, disclosure, contracts and measurement that help you tell a careful influencer agency from a careless one.

By MarketRank Research · · 6 min read

Influencer marketing is easy to start and hard to measure. A careful agency can show how creators are chosen, how audiences are checked and how results are tracked. Use these questions to tell the difference.

How are creators chosen?

Ask how the agency finds creators and what it checks before recommending one: audience location and age, past brand work, content quality and engagement. A fit with your customers matters more than a large following.

How are fake followers checked?

Inflated followings are common. Ask what tools or methods the agency uses, and ask to see audience reports for the creators it proposes.

How is disclosure handled?

Paid posts should be clearly marked as advertising, in line with platform rules and Indian advertising standards. Ask how the agency makes sure creators disclose, and who is responsible if they do not.

What does the contract cover?

Check the deliverables, the dates, how many revisions are allowed, how long the content can be used and who owns it. Ask what happens if a creator does not deliver.

How are results measured?

Views and likes are easy to count but say little about sales. Ask how the agency will track clicks, sign-ups or sales, for example with unique links or codes, and how it will report them.

Ask for past campaigns you can see

Ask for examples of campaigns for similar brands, with the creators used, what was asked of them and the results. A reference from a past client is worth more than any presentation.
